Dr. Jose Parappully, the Director of Sumedha Centre, did a
three day workshop on “Emotional Development and Religious Formation” at Anjali,
the Provincial House of the Indian Missionary Society (IMS) at Varanasi from
June 23 to 25, 2016.
There were 17 participants – 12 IMS priests (including
current and former Generals, current provincial and Professors of Theology and
Philosophy) and 5 sisters from three different congregations (FMS, SAP and
SRA) involved at various stages of religious formation..
The content of the workshop included: Need Fulfilment and Religious
Formation, Healthy Formation Environment, Effective Formator, Psychosexual and
Celibate Integration and Healing from the Effects of sexual Abuse.
Inputs on these topics were followed by time for personal
reflection and sharing in micro and macro groups.
Participants found the workshop immensely useful. What they
gained most was clarity of concepts, and great er confidence in dealing with these
issues with the formees as well as personal enrichment in the area of emotional
development.
