The World Day of Consecrated Life was celebrated by the religious of the Archdiocese of Bangkok at the Redemptorist Spirituality Centre in Minburi Thailand on Saturday, 11th February..
The theme of the day was "Promoting Human Integrity vis-a-vis Human Trafficking." The Archdiocese of Bangkok is actively engaged in the campaign against Human Trafficking. It is being led by Sr. Siphim OSU who participated in the last (September -November 2016) Sumedha Sadhana. She introduced the theme of the day.
A number of short films on human trafficking - of children and women into prostitution and men into modern day slavery in the fishing industry in Thailand -- and the efforts to free them were screened.
A former provincial of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, who has worked with the campaign, gave a talk on the theme.
This was followed by a Eucharist presided over by Cardinal Francis Xavier, the Archbishop of Bangkok.
During the Eucharist 17 religious who were celebrating the jubilees of their religious profession - diamond, golden or silver - were felicitated. Among them was Sr, Papaporn Buacharn (second from the right in the photograph below), who had participated in the Sumedha Sadhana a few years ago.
Two newly appointed Provincials - one few them was the Salesian Father Deparet - were also felicitated.
The programme concluded with lunch.
Fr. Jose Parappully, the Director of Sumedha Centre, who currently is facilitating a workshop on "Midlife and the Spiritual Journey" at Sisters' Centre, Sampran, joined the celebrations along with the participants of the workshop
